Jesus was born a Jew, of a virgin named Mary, after the announcement that the Holy spirit will come upon her (Luke 1:35). Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, meaning His divinity is exactly like God the Father's and is from the Father (John 3:16). Jesus's birth, life, death, resurrection and ascension into heaven were a fulfilment of many Old Covenant prophecies about the Messiah or The Christ (the Anointed One), the Son of David. (Genesis 3:15; Isaiah 7:14; Micah 5:2; Zechariah 9:9; Isaiah 61; Psalm 22; Psalm 16:10; Isaiah 50:6; Isaiah 53; Psalm 68:18; Psalm 110:1; Psalm 45:6-7; Daniel 2:44 to name only a few).
God the Father Himself attested to the identity of Jesus "When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” (Luke 3:21-22). God testified again about the identity of Jesus at the transfiguration (Mark 9:7; Luke 9:35).
Jesus possesses all the attributes of God because Jesus is eternal (Micah 5:2; Isaiah 9:6-7), He is creator (see section above), He is called "Mighty God and Everlasting Father" (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus said "I and My Father are one" (John 10:30). In another place Jesus called Himself by God's Name saying “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” (John 8:58). His detractors wanted to stone Him for this precisely because His statements claimed He was God. However, the works which He did in God The Father's Name bore witness of Him (John 10:25), and furthermore God raised Him up at His resurrection (Philippians 2:9; Romans 8:11) because Jesus was sinless (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 John 3:5; 1 Peter 2:22; Hebrews 4:15; Hebrews 9:14). Only God is without sin (Romans 3:23). "For in Him (Jesus Christ) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9).
